Lighthouse Shipping specializes in the international shipment of vehicles. We can drive your vehicle onto the ship, load it inside an ocean container or haul it domestically on an auto-carrier.
Roll On-Roll Off refers to a type of ship specially designed to carry any kind of wheeled cargo such as cars, trucks, semi-trailers, buses and anything on wheels.
These vehicles are either towed or driven onto the ship which can best be described as a giant reinforced floating parking garage.
Lighthouse shipping services every major international RO/RO port.
We can also load your vehicle onto an ocean (FCL) container.
Shipping your vehicle in a container is ideal when the shipping consists of more than only one vehicle.
A container is usually the preferred way to ship for customers that are shipping household goods and a vehicle, or if a customer is shipping two or more cars.
Lighthouse Shipping has established a relationship with many reputable auto carriers in order to assure the safe and reliable transport of your vehicle.
We are equipped to move every type of vehicle including motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, boats, Contruction equipment and anything on wheels.
In addition, we are part of an exclusive network of enclosed auto carriers in case you need to move a priceless classic or an exotic vehicle of any kind.
We can transport your vehicle domestically, to Canada or internationally from the port of arrival to the final destination.
Please note that in order to export any self-propelled land vehicles from the United States we will be required to do a vehicle title with US Customs at the port of departure. In order to comply for a title validation we will need for you to send the original title to our agent at the port of departure which will then prepare the paperwork and submit to customs.
In some case, when a car is not fully paid off, we can do a vehicle title validation with a certified copy of the title accompanied by a notarized letter from the lien holder (bank that owns the car) allowing for the vehicle to be exported.
Finally, it is important to know that every US port has different document procedures. For example, the port of New York and New Jersey needs a stamped dock receipt while the ports of Miami and Seattle need a notarized power of attorney authorizing us to submit your vehicle title to customs for validation.
Please ensure that you confirm with one of our shipping specialists which are the required documents that we will need from you in order to properly prepare any documentation required to submit your title to US customs for the export of your vehicle.
For RO/RO shipment the fuel level in the gas tank must be as low as possible (the low light fuel must be on)
For containerized vehicle shipments, the fuel must be drained from the vehicle (or as low as possible) and the battery must be disconnected.
You can only place other goods inside the vehicle in containerized vehicle shipments.
Please note that for RO/RO shipments, it is strictly prohibited to place any item that does specifically pertain to the specific vehicle that is being shipped inside that vehicle.
